Snow is on the way, and as today’s storm begins to move through our area, we want to take a moment to remind pet owners to plan ahead and keep safety top of mind. Winter storms can be stressful for both people and pets, especially when conditions change quickly.
Before the snow really picks up, make sure your dog has safe access to the yard. Clear walkways and common potty areas as best you can so your pup has secure footing. Deep snow, ice, and strong winds can make even short trips outside uncomfortable or unsafe, so keep outings brief and always supervise. Wipe paws after coming inside to remove snow, ice, and any salt or deicers that could irritate sensitive skin.
Cold temperatures can also impact your pet’s routine. Some dogs may be hesitant to go outside during a storm, while others may get distracted by drifting snow and reduced visibility. Having a Hidden Pet Fence in place provides peace of mind during weather like this, allowing your dog to safely use the yard without you needing to stand outside for long periods in harsh conditions.
If your dog spends time outdoors, even briefly, be sure they have proper shelter and warmth. No pet should be left outside for extended periods during a snowstorm. Fresh water is also important, as bowls can freeze quickly in cold weather.
As the storm rolls in, we encourage everyone to stay safe, stay warm, and check on neighbors and pets who may need extra help. Our team is monitoring conditions closely and will continue to provide support to our customers throughout the winter season. If you have questions or concerns, we are always here to help.
