Over the past few weeks, our team of experienced dog fence professionals spent time testing one of the newest and most talked about GPS collars on the market, the Halo 5. With years of hands on experience installing and servicing pet containment systems, we believe it is important to thoroughly evaluate new products before recommending them to dog owners. In our newest YouTube video linked below, we walk through our full experience with the Halo 5, including setup, daily use, and real world performance.
While the Halo 5 does offer some improvements over previous Halo models, our overall findings raised serious concerns. During testing, we noticed inconsistent boundary communication and unpredictable collar responses. These inconsistencies can be confusing for dogs who rely on clear and reliable feedback to understand their boundaries. When a system is not dependable, it increases the risk of dogs ignoring warnings or receiving corrections at the wrong time.
More importantly, this lack of consistency can create unsafe situations. Dogs may cross boundaries unexpectedly, fail to respond to alerts, or become stressed due to unclear signals. Based on our experience, we do not believe the Halo 5 provides the level of reliability and safety that responsible pet owners should expect from a containment system.
