As Thanksgiving arrives, we want to wish all our customers, their families, and their pets a warm and joyful holiday. This is a day filled with gratitude, good food, and time spent with the people and pets we love most. While you enjoy your feast, it is important to keep your dog safe by knowing which classic Thanksgiving dishes are okay to share and which ones should be avoided.
Turkey is safe for dogs as long as it is plain, fully cooked, and free of skin, bones, and seasoning. A small portion of mashed potatoes is fine as long as there is no butter, cream, garlic, or onion. Plain vegetables like green beans, carrots, and pumpkin are great choices and make healthy, dog friendly treats.
Some holiday foods should stay on the human plate. Stuffing, gravy, and casseroles often contain onions, garlic, excess salt, and rich ingredients that can upset a dog’s stomach. Avoid giving dogs turkey skin, bones, or anything sweet, especially desserts that contain chocolate, nutmeg, or artificial sweeteners.
Our offices will be closed Thanksgiving day until Monday, December 1st. A little planning keeps everyone happy at the table. We hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with comfort, safety, and plenty of tail wags.
