Time for a Walk!
10/13/2024
One question we get asked frequently at our dog fence consultations is “how do we take our dog for a walk once the fence is installed?” This is a great question, because during our boundary training, we teach the dogs to stay in the yard. So how will they know when it’s okay to leave? We have certain protocol set up to get your dog to walk through the fence with you when it’s time for a walk.
First things first: the Hidden Pet Fence collar needs to be taken off. Then, you can replace the fence collar with a regular collar or harness to attach their leash to. The next step is very important, we ask that you choose a pathway to leave through the fence each time. You will also say a release command such as “time for a walk!” when you walk through the fence boundary. Over time, these steps will help your dog feel confident about going through the fence when it’s time.
Staying consistent is key with all aspects of using your new dog fence. Going for walks is still a regular activity for most dogs that use our fence. We have trained thousands of dogs over the years, and these steps have proven to be the best way to bring your dog through their underground pet fence. Our professional trainer will help guide you through this process and anything else you may want help with!
